About

Welcome to … SophieHamiltonBooks.co.uk

Good morning, or afternoon, or evening – depending on what time of day it is wherever you are in the world!

I’m Sophie Hamilton, a writer and author of YA novels – and I’ll be blogging on this site about anything and everything, but mainly about writing, my books, films, art, photography, popular culture, London and things that wind me up or make me smile … If you have anything you’d like to contribute to the site, then please get in touch.

I underestimated just how action-packed and thrilling it would be! Stitch-Up had me completely hooked, right from the beginning.

Before we start, I should begin by telling you something about myself (cue soft mood-music, and cheesy voice-over …)

I was brought up in a sleepy hamlet in Warwickshire, where I spent most of my childhood horse-riding, going for long walks with my dog, Mopsa, playing tennis, and mucking around in the countryside.
After studying history at Brighton’s Sussex University, I came to London and fell in love with the city’s crazy cosmopolitan mix.

For years, I worked in TV as a film researcher and producer. This is why, as you will see from my Twitter and Tumblr feeds, I find images, photos, films, art and graphics a huge inspiration for my writing.

The programmes I worked on ranged from hard-hitting documentaries to culture and art shows, and most enjoyably, shows exposing the lifestyles, quirks and foibles of the rich and famous. Finally in my forties, I decided to swap the hectic environment of television for the solitary life of a writer, and the result is my debut novel ‘Stitch-Up’.

I have recently finished its sequel, Mob-Handed, which will be published in the Spring of 2015.

When not writing you’ll find me reading, watching films, searching out culture, walking or jogging round London, taking photos … or just kicking back.

I look forward to hearing from you … wherever you are!
